Overview of the Disciplinary Process

The North Dakota Board of Nursing is authorized by law to sanction a license/registration if the licensee/registrant has violated the North Dakota Nurse Practices Act. The law establishing the North Dakota Board of Nursing was enacted by the Legislature as a means of protecting the public health, safety and welfare. Utilizing the various mechanisms in the law to remove or restrict the practice of licensees/registrants who have engaged in activities with potential for endangering the health, safety and welfare of the public is an essential component of the functions of the Board.
