Pennsylvania Has Joined the Nurse Licensure Compact
If PA is still your primary state of residence, you may now apply for a multistate nursing license in PA
On July 7, 2025, Pennsylvania fully implemented the Nurse Licensure Compact. If Pennsylvania is your primary state of residence, you are eligible to apply for a Pennsylvania multistate license.
The Pennsylvania multistate RN/LPN license will allow you to practice as an RN or LPN/VN in all compact states, including North Dakota where you currently hold a single state license.
- If you are issued a Pennsylvania multistate license, you can stop renewing your North Dakota single state license at the next renewal period.
- If you currently hold a Pennsylvania single state license OR change your primary state of residence to Pennsylvania, you may view multistate license information on the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing website.
If you have any questions about the application, please contact the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing at ST-NURSE@PA.GOV or 1-833-367-2762.
