Baccalaureate Degree Nursing Programs
Baccalaureate degree nursing education offers a liberal arts and science foundation with theory and practice in nursing. A variety of community resources provide nursing students with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to use their knowledge safely and effectively in providing nursing services to people. It provides the nursing student with the opportunity to share with students preparing for other occupations and prepares the student for graduate study. Successful completion of the baccalaureate degree nursing program meets one of the requirements for admission to the registered nurse licensing examination. Associate in Science and Associate in Applied Science for Practical Nurse Licensure
The associate in science for practical nursing provides a physical, biological and social science background with theory and technical skill in nursing. The student is given the opportunity to demonstrate these skills in a variety of acute and long term care facilities. It gives the practical nurse students the opportunity to share with students preparing for other occupations and provides them with transferable academic credit so that they may further their education in nursing if they so choose. Successful completion of the associate in science practical nurse program meets one of the requirements for admission to the practical nursing licensing examination. Certificate Program for Practical Nurse Licensure
The certificate program for practical nursing provides the student with career-technical education that offers individuals the opportunity to develop skills related to practical nursing. This program requires less general education for completion than do degree programs. STATE APPROVED
All nursing programs in North Dakota must meet the required rules for nursing education programs and be approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
A state approved nursing education program may voluntarily apply for National accreditation. Standards for national accreditation are established by the National League for Nursing and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
The North Dakota Board of Nursing has National Recognition by the United States Department of Education as the approver of nursing education programs.
